Southern Palms Beach Resort has been a fixture on Diani Beach for over three decades. Opened in 1992 and renovated in 2019, this 4-star all-inclusive resort sits on 10 acres of tropical grounds directly on one of East Africa's most celebrated stretches of white sand. With 298 rooms, two suites, five dining venues, and four bars, it is one of the larger properties on the south coast. Rooms and Suites

Four room categories cater to different budgets and preferences. Superior Rooms (37.5 square metres) come with king or twin beds, individually controlled air conditioning, flat-screen TV, minibar, and tea and coffee facilities. Balconies on floors two and three overlook the pools and gardens. Superior Deluxe Rooms (46.5 sqm) add a sofa seating area, a larger terrace, and Swahili-inspired architectural details — connecting rooms are available for families. Ocean Front Rooms offer the same 37.5 sqm layout but face the Indian Ocean, with sunrise views from the upper floors. Ocean Front Deluxe Rooms (46.5 sqm) extend that with a private lounge area and an oversized terrace steps from the water. Two suites at roughly 111 square metres provide the most private accommodation, with expansive living spaces and premium ocean views.

Dining and Pools

The main Palms Restaurant serves buffet-style meals under a massive makuti roof, with a live grill, an African corner, an Indian corner, and a pasta station. Manyatta Restaurant specialises in African grilled dishes in a Masai-inspired poolside setting. La Via Romana sits on the rooftop for intimate Italian dinners under the stars. Boriti Snack Restaurant covers casual lunches and afternoon tea with beach and pool views. A Shawarma and Dessert Lounge rounds out the options — the only venue not included in the all-inclusive package. Four bars keep drinks flowing throughout the day. The two freeform pools run virtually the length of the property, described as among the largest in East Africa, and are the centrepiece of the resort's social life.

Practical Details

All-inclusive rates start from approximately EUR 123 per person per night during low season (May to June), rising to EUR 157 in standard season (January to April) and EUR 182 in high season (July to August). The package covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, soft drinks, water, beer, wine, and a selection of spirits. Water sports, spa treatments, and tennis lessons are not included. Children under two stay free; ages two to twelve are charged at 50 percent of the adult sharing rate. The resort is 35 kilometres south of Mombasa with a scuba diving centre, watersports centre, fitness centre, children's club, conference facilities, and a beauty salon on site.
