The Dhow Experience

Their signature experience is the sunset dhow cruise — a traditional wooden sailboat gliding along the coast as the sun drops behind the palm trees. There's no engine noise, no rush. The crew serves fresh fruit and cold drinks while you watch the coastline turn gold. It's the single best way to end a day in Diani, and locals will tell you the same.

Reef Snorkeling

The coral reef off Diani is one of Kenya's best-kept secrets — butterflyfish, parrotfish, and the occasional sea turtle in water so clear you can see 15 metres down. Zhufari's guides know exactly where to go depending on the tide and conditions. They provide quality equipment, and the small group sizes (maximum 6 people) mean you're not fighting for space on the reef.

Wasini Island Dhow Trip

A full-day sailing trip to Wasini Island by traditional dhow. Snorkel the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park (dolphins are common), explore the coral gardens at low tide, and eat a Swahili seafood lunch on the island. One of the most popular day trips on the Kenya coast.

Shimba Hills National Reserve

Kenya's only sable antelope population lives in this coastal rainforest reserve, just 45 minutes inland from Diani. A half-day safari takes in the Sheldrick Falls, elephant herds, and dense tropical forest. Back at the beach by lunchtime.

Tsavo East Safari

One of Africa's largest national parks is under three hours from Diani. A full-day game drive through Tsavo East's red-earth landscape offers sightings of the famous red elephants, lions, buffalo, and hundreds of bird species. Long day, but unforgettable.

Funzi Island & Mangrove Kayak

A quieter alternative to Wasini — paddle through mangrove channels to Funzi Island, visit local villages, and spot herons, kingfishers, and monitor lizards. A half-day adventure that feels a world away from the beach resorts.

Haller Park & Mombasa Old Town

Combine a visit to Haller Park (rescued hippos, giraffes you can hand-feed, and a butterfly pavilion) with a walking tour of Mombasa's atmospheric Old Town — centuries-old Swahili architecture, spice markets, and Fort Jesus. A full-day trip that works especially well for families.
