Skydive Diani

$$$$·Ukunda·Daily 8am-4pm (weather permitting)

Highlights

  • Freefall from 10,000 feet over the Indian Ocean coastline
  • Views of the reef, Diani Beach, and the Shimba Hills in a single jump
  • Tandem with experienced instructors — no prior experience needed
  • Beach landing on white sand
  • GoPro video and photos of your jump available

There is no faster way to understand the scale of Diani Beach than falling toward it at 200 kilometres per hour. Skydive Diani operates out of Ukunda Airstrip, a short drive from any hotel on the coast, and offers tandem jumps that require zero experience — just the nerve to step out of a perfectly good aeroplane.

The Jump

You'll climb to 10,000 feet strapped to a certified instructor, watching the coastline shrink beneath you — the reef line becomes a brushstroke of dark blue against turquoise, the beach a white ribbon separating ocean from jungle. Then the door opens, and you jump. The freefall lasts around 30 seconds, hitting speeds of 200 km/h. It's louder than you expect, more intense than any roller coaster, and the view is genuinely surreal — you can see from Mombasa to Funzi Island on a clear day.

Under Canopy

Once the parachute opens, everything changes. The noise stops, the wind softens, and you're floating above the Indian Ocean with five minutes of pure, quiet spectacle. Your instructor may let you steer the canopy — gentle turns that swing your legs out over the water. The Shimba Hills sit green and ancient to the west, the reef shimmers below, and the beach landing zone gets slowly, beautifully closer.

The Landing

You touch down on the beach, feet in the sand, with a GoPro full of footage and a story that will dominate every dinner conversation for the rest of your holiday. The whole experience — from briefing to landing — takes about two hours, but the jump itself feels both eternal and impossibly short.

Practical Details

A tandem jump costs €350 per person, which includes the instructor, all equipment, and the jump itself. GoPro video and photo packages are available separately. You need to be at least 18 years old and weigh under 100 kg. Jumps are weather-dependent — wind and cloud cover can delay or reschedule, so book early in your trip to allow flexibility. The team operates daily from 8 am to 4 pm out of Ukunda Airstrip. Book via WhatsApp for fastest confirmation.
